Old Canyon and Fernwood Road History: County Records List Five Local Streets for Improvements

FERNWOOD, Los Angeles County — The Topanga Town Council’s archives preserve an older LA County Public Works notice about roadway improvements in the Old Canyon and Fernwood communities.

The original notice listed Topanga Skyline Drive, Vesey Road, Jando Drive, Basin Drive and Cave Way as streets within the local improvement effort. It reflects how infrastructure maintenance in Fernwood involves county roads as well as the separate state-controlled Topanga Canyon Boulevard corridor.

Historic records versus current projects

The archived notice says work was expected to begin within weeks of its original distribution, but the website excerpt does not establish the original issue date or whether any crew is scheduled today. Residents should not interpret the old notice as an announcement of current November 2026 closures.

For present potholes, drainage and resurfacing questions, verify which agency controls the specific road and consult LA County Public Works’ current road-service and maintenance notices. State Route 27 incidents belong to Caltrans.
